Angel’s Children

Due to one of my very special client’s invitation, I have become a participant in the YWCA.  I had a very emotional experience when as part of our service I wrapped Christmas gifts for a mother and her two sons who are living at the homeless shelter.

I wrapped one gift for each boy.

I filled a stocking for the mother and each boy.

I prepared a bowl full of goodies and popcorn and one game for a family game night.

Merry Christmas! (sarcasm).




As I was wrapping the simple gift for each boy, tears came to my eyes. I thought about my Christmases as a child and I pondered about this family’s Christmas. I was very, very sad. I cried in my car all the way home and was so mentally exhausted I went straight to my bed and tried to sleep.

I’ve always been a charitable donor. There are many causes that I have sponsored through the years and I’ve simply, “mailed in my check.” But to see it. To experience it. That was a whole new understanding for me.

You all know that I struggle with my weight and with exercise. So I have hired a wonderful coach named Jonathan Roche to help me. Jonathan is the author of the best-selling book,

The No Excuses Diet: The Anti-Diet Approach to Crank Up Your Energy and Weight Loss and he is the Founder and CEO of Breakthrough Health & Wellness Solutions, Inc.

I just so happened to have my coaching call with Jonathan the morning after wrapping these meager gifts. After I tearfully shared my experience with Jonathan, Jonathan shared with me what his company is doing this year to bless struggling families at Christmas. Jonathan’s company is giving $500 to 25 families this year.


I thought about what I could do.


My goal this past year was to sell 16 homes each month. Whenever our team meets our goal, I always take them to a nice restaurant or we participate in some other fun activity to celebrate.   16 homes each month is a lot. It’s a stretch goal for us. It is doable, but we don’t always reach it.

I am always encouraging our team to reach that goal. But I don’t know if going to a nice dinner or doing something fun is motivational enough. I decided to copy Jonathan and connect our production goal to blessing families at Christmas.

As such, this coming year 2019, when our team sells 16 homes in a month, I am going to set aside $500 to help sponsor a family at Christmas. When our company (this includes the other agents that work at Sold By An Angel Real Estate® but not on my team), sells an additional 6 homes in that same month, then I will set aside another $500 to help sponsor a second family at Christmas.

If we were to successfully sell 22 homes each month (January to November), we would be able to deliver Christmas joy to 22 families.

I’m still going to continue to donate to the other charities I have contributed to in the past, but because of the “personal experience” I had, this one will have more than just money. This one will have my heart.

At this time of year of reflecting on the past and envisioning the future, I want to express to you my gratitude for you. I am humbled by the support our business is given by your hiring us to serve you in the sale and purchase of your homes and for all the referrals that you so eagerly bestow upon me and my team as well. If it were not for your continual support and referrals, I would not have a job.

I don’t receive an hourly wage. I am 100% dependent upon the sale or purchase of someone’s home. I have never taken this privilege for granted and I never will. I wish you could know how dearly and sincerely grateful for you that I am.

I wish each and every one of you a blessed New Year! I hope that as you envision the future, that you are able to do whatever it takes to reach your goals and achieve all of your dreams.

The Year of Contentment

If I had one word to describe 2017 it would be “contentment.”  If I could have another word, it would be “fast!”

The year 2017 brought with it lots of gifts. I was able to expand and grow my team with the most exceptional team members I could ever ask for.Christmas 2017

I cannot believe my good fortune! I work with some of the smartest, action-oriented women around, which results in both my clients and me being served by only the best team in town.

I was able to spend time with family and friends by traveling to Disneyland, Minnesota, Denver, Las Vegas, San Diego, and Calistoga.

My business and life philosophy is that if you are not growing, you’re dying. I want to be my client’s best option as their trusted real estate advisor. Therefore, I make it a point to further my education in real estate, business, leadership, and personal growth.

This year I finished my two-year term being mentored by Darren Hardy, the former publisher of SUCCESS magazine, keynote speaker, CEO and top-level executive advisor, and New York Times best-selling author. Through these past two years with Darren, I have been able to surround myself with some of the most successful and creative business leaders and CEOs around the world. I hired another success coach who has helped me improve my inner self so that I am able to successfully reach my personal and business goals. I attended Brian Buffini’s Mastermind Summit, and Todd Duncan’s Sales Mastery so that I could learn additional systems to help our team be able to increase the value we bring in service to our clients. Learning from these incredible mentors has helped me to continuously grow and improve myself and has been a very rewarding experience for me.

Another goal that I achieved was that I started to mindfully eat and I obtained a gym membership at VASA. I am pleased to report, I have lost 11 pounds and have dropped one dress size. 😊 I am continually working on this goal and now I am working on “toning” my body.

The most significant part of my year that has given “contentment” to me, is the privilege I have had of giving exceptional service to our clients. Buying and selling a home is one of the most important events in one’s life. It only happens to a person every few years. It comes with a lot of emotions: anticipation, excitement, stress, worry, happiness, joy, and hope for the future.

I feel soooo blessed that I get to help our clients through this very important chapter in their lives. In serving our clients, my goal is to alleviate all of the stress from them and make the process as simple and easy as possible.

My goal for 2018 is to be able to help even more clients obtain the American dream of home ownership. The National Association of REALTORS® has stated that the average real estate agent sells 10 homes per year. My goal this year is to sell 16 homes each month.

I am sincerely grateful for your ongoing support of my business. It’s because of you and your referrals that I am able to reach my goal and to be able to do my best to bless the lives of those family and friends of yours who are wanting to make a move.

“Giving Thanks Isn’t a Holiday; It’s How Happy People Live”

I love that quote! At this time of Thanksgiving, I thought it would be appropriate for me to share how I express my gratitude every day of the year, not just on Thanksgiving.

Every morning before I get ready for the day, I write in my gratitude journal 5 things that I am grateful for.Cornucopia

Years ago, I read a book called, The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor. In his book he suggests that every day when we write in our journal, we should write about the most remarkable event that occurred the day before. So I write, “the most remarkable event that occurred yesterday was…..” and then I write what that event was. The marvelous thing about this exercise is that instead of just writing down in my journal the things that happened in my day, which could be something good, bad, positive, or negative, I am actually purposely looking for the positive. It forces my brain to concentrate on what’s right in my world, not what’s wrong. It’s a beautiful experience.

In Darren Hardy’s book, The Compound Effect, he talks about a Thanksgiving Journal he wrote for his wife Georgia. Each day for one year he would write one good thing about his wife. For example, how her hair looked, or how she made a wonderful meal. Now, some days it was really hard for him to find something good to write about her, especially if it wasn’t that great of a day for them. But he would search until he could find the good. At Thanksgiving, he presented Georgia with his Thanksgiving journal and she cried. She said it was the best gift she had ever received in her life.

I decided to do that for my husband and I will say that it is truly a wonderful experience because it keeps me focused on all his wonderful and fabulous qualities!

Another quote I love comes from Darren Hardy which says, “Your dream can only be as big and as great as your team.”  I completely and wholeheartedly agree! I feel truly blessed and thankful to have this group surrounding me! I’ve had really great people work for me in the past; and honestly and sincerely, they’ve never been the caliber of people that I have with me now. I feel that these women exemplify all of the virtues and characteristics I need to fulfill my passion of giving Premium Red Carpet Service to each and every one of our clients.

Enhanced Team PhotoWhen I say, “Jump,” my teams asks, “How high?” and then they go even higher! A fun thing we have implemented is that whenever someone on the team goes the extra mile, or comes up with a better way to do something, I give to them a brownie point. Once the team has earned 100 brownie points collectively, I actually make them homemade brownies from the box. Yes, I love the box kind! I’m not really a sweet tooth and I’m very picky about my brownies! 😊 I don’t like “fancy” brownies, just give me the Milk Chocolate Pillsbury brand, or Betty Crocker, or Duncan Hines, – it doesn’t matter to me. Just as long as it comes from the box. And it only costs me a dollar plus eggs, oil, water, and my time, and it makes for a fun environment in our company’s culture.

And as always, I am thankful for YOU, my client! Every day when I write down the 5 things that I am grateful for, one of those 5 things is ALWAYS, “my clients”. Without you and your support of my business, I would have no one to serve. My business is built entirely by referral. My clients are either repeat or referred, and now that I am approaching my 20th year in real estate, we are serving the children of our clients. I feel truly blessed. I am grateful. And I never ever take your business or your referrals for granted.

At this time of Thanksgiving and every day, I am thankful for you! So, thank you!

Breathe, Balance, and Restore

I’ve gotten off track.

I was doing sooooo good! I was working out consistently and then one day I got distracted and missed. That day led to the next, and the next, and the next, and then one day my three office assistants were talking and one of them said, “I noticed that on Angelina’s calendar she has a reoccurring appointment to go to yoga. Have any of you ever seen her go?”

Another assistant replied, “For as long as I’ve worked here, I’ve never seen her go to yoga”.


So, each week our team meets for our weekly mastermind building meetings. In our mastermind meetings we discuss assigned books we have read and determine how we can utilize this content to better serve you, our very special and important clients. I instruct the team on new industry changes and items for implementation. We focus on learning, growinYogag, and improving ourselves both individually and collectively with the big picture purpose of providing an excellent experience for our clients during one of the most important events in their lives.

Additionally, I hand out a piece of paper for each team member to take a few minutes to answer some questions that I have for them. Then after our meetings I review them. One of the questions on this form is, “Is there anything Angel can help you with?”  Well, this sweet girl who asked the question, “Have any of you seen her go to yoga?” wrote on her paper to me the following, “I hope you treat yourself as good as our clients and go to your yoga class.”

As a result, the team had a little “intervention” and now, once per week we meet early in the morning before work and practice yoga together. We go to a wonderful website called “Yoga with Adriene” which can be found at

Yoga is all about the breath. Our breath is life. If you want more information about the importance of yoga and the breath, simply google, “Yoga, it’s all about the breath” and a plethora of content awaits you.Whole 30

This simple act of love from my team has now caused me to get back on track and take care of me. Intellectually I know that by taking care of me first, I become my very best self, which in turn makes me a better real estate agent for you! In addition to our weekly yoga practice, I signed up for a gym membership at Vasa and I am starting the Whole 30 System found in the book, “Whole 30”, by Melissa and Dallas Hartwig.

By taking care of me, I am taking care of you. I know the Whole 30 program is hard. I also know I can do hard things. The book says, “Also commonly reported: consistently high energy levels, better sleep, improved focus and mental clarity, a return to healthy digestive function, improved athletic performance, and a sunnier disposition”.

Well, who doesn’t want all that?

Like the commercial from L’Oréal in the 1970’s says, “I’m worth it!”

And by the way, you’re worth it too!

So now that I’ve announced this to you, you have become my accountability partner. 😊 I hope that when we see each other again, you will see this “new and restored me”!

I am truly grateful for you and cannot thank you enough for your life-long support of me and my business! Thank you for your referrals of your family and your friends. I promise I will always take excellent care of them and you can count on me to follow through!

True Friendship and Love

I am a voracious reader. In one of my readings years ago, there is a story about a man who is telling his friend that he and his son are going on a 6-week cross country trip to attend baseball games. The friend says, “Oh, I didn’t know you were that interested in baseball.” The man replies, “I’m not, but my son is.”

That story touched my heart so powerfully and I’ve never forgotten it.

One of my dearest friends loves Prince. I mean loves him. Probably over the top crazy over him. For me, I “like” Prince for the most part. Some of his music such as “Purple Rain” I love. Some, not so much. But my friend is insane for Prince.Prince 1

Prince died on April 21, 2016. In celebration of his life, there was a 4-day event from April 20th to 23rd, 2017 at Paisley Park in Chanhassen, MN where Prince lived and worked. My friend’s husband called me and asked if I would be willing to go with her. They have two small children and so it was not possible for him to attend because he needed to stay home with the kids.

Because of the story I shared with you, of course I said yes. I may not be that interested in Prince, but my friend is. So we went.

In preparation for attending this event I started performing some research on Prince so that I could become more familiar with him and feel more prepared to hang out with these “Purple Friends” who are die-hard Prince fanatics. 😊

Whenever I read about or study successful people, I try to find myself in them.

In an interview with Arsenio Hall, Arsenio asked Prince, “If you weren’t Prince, what would you do for a living?”

Prince 2Prince answered as follows, “When I was 16, I was completely broke, and needed to go get a job. So I got the Yellow Pages out and I couldn’t find one thing that I wanted to do. So I decided I was going to push as hard as I could to be a musician and win at it.”

That’s how I feel about real estate. I love what I do so much that I never intend to retire. I want to serve you, my clients, for the rest of my life. I can’t even imagine doing anything else. There is nothing that comes to mind. I love this job. I love taking care of you. It fills me up completely.
